Throwback Thursday

Just in case you didn't catch CrossFit Sandbox on The TV last week, check out the link on the bottom to see us grab our 15 minutes (seconds really) or fame!

The spot was for the Counter Burger in El Segundo.  We didn't get to say much, I actually didn't say anything at all (I let my hands do all the talking).  It was still a lot fun and we got some free publicity out of it.

FYI there is a Counter Burger in Santa Monica on Ocean Park.  Field trip anyone?

CFSBX OPEN RESULTS

Dear Ladies and Gents,
I know I have been putting it for a bit, but I wanted to announce the top 3 finishers in our box for Intra Box Competition during The CrossFit Open.  Unfortunately it was impossible to determine a winner for the scaled divisions, everyone chose to scale the workouts (or not scale the workouts) differently.  I am proud of everyone that decided to participate, especially for choosing to push themselves a little harder and doing their best to complete the workouts RX.
For the RX divisions, the race was pretty tight for the top spots.  The energy we saw from the box during The Open was amazing, you guys definitely helped set the bar each week.

Women
1.  Michelle Greco
2.  Allie Boettger
3.  Maile LeTourneau

Men
1.   Juvie Gonzalez
2.  Tim Poydenis
3.  Andraz Tus
4.  Phillip Pizzuti

Challenge Starts Today!!! What did you eat?

Challenge starts today folks, not too late to sign up and join the team. This Paleo bar was a complete disappointment, should have bought some regular nuts and berries instead. Over the next 8 weeks, learn to appreciate the pleasure and ease of real whole foods. You might realize what you've been missing out on.

BTW...if you signed up for the challenge and did the workout today (Helen), don't forget your time! Write it down, take a picture of it, or post it to the comments.

It's not a challenge, if it doesn't change you.

What is the Whole Life Challenge?

The Whole Life Challenge is a challenge to see how much of an impact you can have on your body, fitness and lifestyle habits over 8 weeks. You will take on your nutrition, your workouts, your daily habits, and maybe most importantly, your personal beliefs about what’s possible for youslef.

Through the challenge, you will

·         Have an unforgettable experience with friends and family
·         Improve overall health
·         Make health and fitness fun and an easy part of life
The game is played online and in your life. You will be measured at the beginning of the challenge where you will do a baseline workout and complete some basic body measurements. Every day you will follow the specific rules and guidelines of the challenge, and every day you will log online and give yourself a score for how you did the day before. This isn’t about getting a perfect score every day, it’s about having a score each day to know how effective you are. Increasing your effectiveness over the course of the challenge is where it’s at. After 8-weeks you will repeat the measurements again to see how you improved. Winner of the challenge will receive a month free membership and a winner take-all cash prize. Additional prizes for unique categories will be given out as well.

Important Dates

May 3: Challenge begins. Complete benchmark WOD.
May 4: Nutrition seminar. Body composition measurement. Benchmark WOD make-up.

#BurpBetter

I posted this to the Facebook page already, but wanted to post on the blog anyway.   It's a pretty cool marketing campaign.  It's shot just like a Coca-Cola commercial.  Check it and don't be afraid to share it with friends!

The 2014 CrossFit Open, is over. Thank you, Dave Castro. It was fun.

The Open is over, thank God.  Don't get me wrong, these last 5 weeks were a blast.  "Friday Night Lights" brought a different type of energy to gym, that was amazing to be a part of.  The CrossFit Open Season (as they call it), always seems to bring out the best in every single athlete.  It's a joy to see people step out of their comfort zone and do something they couldn't imagine.  Many of you came in and tirelessly worked at things like double-unders and muscle-ups, because you knew they would come up.  You may have struggled with those skills when they actually appeared, but all that extra work proved that nothing is too far from your reach.  The workouts are meant to be challenging.  Every CrossFit Open Season ends the same way, with me feeling unsatisfied.  The season ends with a laundry list of things that I can't wait to start working on.  And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.  It keeps me hungry, it keeps me working hard, and best of all....IT KEEPS ME IN SHAPE!

TILL NEXT YEAR!

As for the rest of year, we have some good things in store for CFSBX.  Stay tuned!!!
